Course summary
This program is part of a comprehensive program effort of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Howard University to examine various institutions that impacted upon the African American community. The AOJ major is organized essentially around the concept of liberal arts education, while at the same time providing career-specific educational training. Students must, therefore, satisfy all general education requirements established by the College of Arts and Sciences, in addition to those specified in the major program.
Program modules
The modules are: 025-001 Introduction to Sociology, 025-110 Elementary Statistics, 025-070 Criminology, 025-111 Sociological Methods and Techniques, 025-170 Principles of Criminal Justice, 025-074 Corrections, 025-079 Internship.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have official transcripts of CSC, CXC, GCE, WASC, CGSE or official final secondary school records, results from the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test Assessment (ACT), international students from non-English speaking country must have scores from Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
