Course summary
This program provides a richly interdisciplinary curriculum. American Studies offers challenging and diverse opportunities to study the history, people, cultures, and institutions of the United States in interdisciplinary courses. The curriculum combines the study of history with literature, and the arts. Through rigorous coursework and within an interdisciplinary learning community, students gain essential academic and life skills necessary both for success in the workplace and for responsible citizenship.
Entry requirement for international students
Students will be considered for admission on the basis of their secondary school record and their English proficiency. Applicants who meet a TOEFL score of 525(CBT 195), IELTS 6, or A.C.E. Language Institute Level 6 (available at MSU) and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of a 2.5 on a four-point scale will qualify for admission.
