Course summary
This program is for those who wish to pursue a career in the discipline of anthropology, for those simply interested in the human condition and for those who may wish to combine the study of anthropology with another discipline. It focuses on understanding cultural diversity makes it a useful subject for people planning careers in areas such as education, business, medicine, and law. Students receive a broad range of training in theory and methodology: ethnography, in-depth interviewing, survey research and quantitative analysis. Courses require intensive writing, and all students are encouraged to become proficient in a second language. Students are encouraged to travel abroad and often get hands-on experience while working in UNT's international field schools.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have graduated from an accredited high school and strongly recommend that students take the following classes in high school. Students should have a strong ‘B’ average and have completed three units of English and two units each of solid mathematics, social science and natural science. Students should have a minimum combined SAT (combined critical reading/verbal and math) score of 1180 or ACT composite of 26. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
