This program is designed to provide the art major with the knowledge, the critical thinking tools, and the technical and creative skills necessary for work in the art professions or for continued study in graduate programs.

Entry requirement for international students

Graduating high school seniors or adults who have a high school diploma or GED and have never attended an accredited two or four year college should apply for admission as freshmen. High school graduates who have only attended a non-accredited post-secondary institution should follow freshman procedures. A 2.75 (C+) cumulative grade point average is recommended for consideration for admission. English requirement proficiency: Students may be exempt from this requirement if: English is the native language spoken in their country; English was the median of instruction in high school and can be verified by the school; the applicant attended a high school in the USA for at least two academic semesters; The applicant attended a college or university in the USA and enrolled in a minimum of 30 semester hours of academic credit. Students who are not exempt should have a score of 173 (computer based test), 500 (paper-based test) or 61 (internal based). Proof of English proficiency can also be met by an IELTS band score of 5.0 (with no sub score below 5.0). IELTS testing is offered by the British Council. Freshman applicants who show academic promise but whose records are inconsistent with average performance of entering students may be offered conditional admission. A student admitted conditionally is monitored by the collegiate advising office, limited in the number of credit hours for the first year of enrollment, and required to maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average during that time. Students admitted conditionally will be referred to the Center for Student Academic Support for academic support services.

The University offers a variety of housing and dining options. Residence hall housing and University apartments are available with or without meal plans. Other non-university-sponsored apartments are available nearby TU at varying rates. The University of Tulsa is interested in how resident students can enrich their experiences in an already vibrant campus environment, which is why it has established housing requirements as well as offer a variety of lifestyles to meet the needs of all students. Computer access, the convenience of in-room telephones, study lounges, and recreational outlets are just a few of these. In addition, full-time live-in professional Residence Directors (RD), student Resident Assistants (RA) and Apartment Community Assistants (ACA) work with students to encourage an atmosphere conducive to academic and personal growth. Staff members advise and acquaint students with the resources of the University as well as plan educational and social programs to meet the needs and interests of residents. All first year students are required to live in University Residence Halls and second year students required to live on campus and participate in a dining program unless they are formally exempted to reside with parent(s) or legal guardian(s) within a 20 mile radius of the campus. This policy applies to traditional first and second year students, international students and transfer students who have not completed two years of residency at another university (post high school) Married students and students 21 years of age and older are exempt. Students fulfill the requirement after spending two years living and dining on campus (post high school). Academic credit hours and/or class status do not exempt one from the policy.
