Course summary

The BA in computer science is designed for students who are interested in entering the work force in computer science, possibly after getting an MA, but are not strongly considering continuing on in a PhD program. Students who wish to pursue a more rigorous track are urged to consider the BS in computer science. The department also encourages students that are completing a BA in computer science to consider completing a second major or minor.

Program modules

The modules include COSI 2a Introduction to Computers, COSI 11a Programming in Java and C, COSI 21a Data Structures and the Fundamentals of Computing, COSI 21b Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs, COSI 22a Fundamentals of Programming, COSI 22b Programming Paradigms, COSI 29a Discrete Structures, COSI 30a Introduction to the Theory of Computation, COSI 31a Computer Structures and Organization, COSI 65a Introduction to 3-D Animation, COSI 93a Research Internship and Analysis.

Entry requirement for international students

Students should have a high school diploma, G.E.D or an equivalent qualification. International applicants, whose native language is not English, are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System examination (IELTS) exam. Admission also requires scores from the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT with Writing.
