Course summary
The curriculum has a two-fold purpose. It seeks to make a contribution to the general education of all students by providing them with the study of writing so they can use their language as effectively and precisely as possible and by introducing them to the sympathetic understanding of literature so their personal lives will be enriched by literary art. It prepares students for such vocations as teaching, publishing, business, and public relations as well as for further professional studies.

Entry requirement for international students
International students must demonstrate a proficiency in the English language. It can be either TOEFL or IELTS score. The minimum requirement for the TOEFL is 173 (computer-based), 500 (written) or 61(Internet-based) and for IELTS it is 5.0. To assist in the proper placement of students in the areas of English, mathematics, science and social studies, all entering undergraduate international students must take the ACT exam upon arrival unless valid ACT or SAT scores are on file.
