Course summary
This program prepares students to manage public relations in the 21st Century. Coursework teaches students the leadership, business management, professional etiquette, event planning and presentation-giving skills needed to compete and succeed in the public relations industry. Students also learn how to conduct social science research and statistical analysis, receive instruction in the ethics, laws and regulations concerning the industry, and learn how to use an organization’s resources effectively. Students also receive instruction in professional writing for public relations, including feature writing, press releases, web writing, multimedia work, client presentations, business formats, design concepts and broadcast scripts.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have graduated from an accredited high school and strongly recommend that students take the following classes in high school. Students should have a strong ‘B’ average and have completed three units of English and two units each of solid mathematics, social science and natural science. Students should have a minimum combined SAT (combined critical reading/verbal and math) score of 1180 or ACT composite of 26. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
