Course summary
This program's curriculum is flexible. In addition to university general education courses, the history curriculum requires students to take: basic courses in the major social sciences, at least one year of a foreign language, a year of American history, a year of European history, a semester of historical archaeology. In addition, the history curriculum provides students with a large block of history electives (15 credits) to focus their studies on particular fields such as European history, American history, industrial archaeology and history, or the history of technology. Another substantial block of courses in the curriculum (18 credits of free electives) allows students to explore offerings in other departments or to focus their studies towards future career goals (e.g., by taking business courses if they plan a career in business or communications courses if they plan a career in journalism or publishing).
