Course summary
This program combines coursework with field experiences to provide students with a broad understanding of both theory and practice in second language acquisition, teaching, and literacy. Our program emphasizes theory-practice connections, draws on core knowledge and skills recommended by TESOL (our professional organization: Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), and focuses on standards- based teaching.

Entry requirement for international students
Applicant should have completed the education level equivalent to an American high school diploma generally which is 12 years of formal education which culminates in the awarding of a secondary school diploma or certificate. They should have a grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale); and must have Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 525 (a score of 197 on the computerized version, or 71 on the Internet based version) or minimum Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 77.
