Course summary

This agricultural biochemistry is a challenging major that requires mastering large amounts of complex material in mathematics and science. There is a strong emphasis on research, including the scientific method and advanced laboratory techniques in biochemistry and molecular biology. The strength of the program is the many opportunities afforded to undergraduates to participate directly in the nationally recognized research laboratories in the Department of BBMB.

Biochemical Research Techniques, BBMB 499 (variable) Undergraduate Research, CHEM 177 (4 credits) and CHEM 178 (3 credits) General Chemistry I and II, CHEM 177L (1 credit) Laboratory in General Chemistry, CHEM 211 (2 credits) Quantitative and Environmental Analysis, CHEM 211L (2 credits) Quantitative Analysis Laboratory, CHEM 331and CHEM 332 (3 credits each) Organic Chemistry I and II, CHEM 331L (1 credit). Laboratory in Organic Chemistry, CHEM 324 and CHEM 325 (3 credits each) Physical Chemistry I and II, CHEM 322L. Entry requirement for international students

Applicants should possess a high school diploma, G.E.D or an equivalent qualification. International students, whose native language is not English, must have a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 530 (paper-based) or 71 (internet-based). Students may also take the IELTS or SAT in lieu of the TOEFL. A minimum score of 420 on the Critical Reading Section of the SAT or an overall score of 6.0 with no sub score below 5.5 in IELTS is required for admission.
