Course summary
This program offer students an introduction to the theoretical and practical foundations of computer science with emphases in data structures, computer architecture, operating systems, file processing, programming languages, and ethics in computing. Students may earn credits for supervised internship work in cooperation with regional industries when they have completed certain required computer science courses.
Program modules
The following are the modules: Required: CSCI 201, 220, 301, 310, 311, 320, 330, 331, 332, 334; MATH 221, 273, 373; ENGL 332 or CMST 341; CSCI Electives: 6 credits at 400-level with approval of the adviser. Practical Experience: 1-3 credits of practical experience which can be satisfied through CSCI 444, 480, 490 or 499.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must have four years of English including composition and literature, three years of social studies including one year each of U.S. history and geography, three years of math including two years of algebra and one of geometry, two years of the same world language, one year in an area of the arts, three years of science including one year of each of a biological and physical science and one year laboratory experience. International applicants must satisfy one of the following requirements: meet the score of 61 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT) or 500 for the Institutional (paper) TOEFL or 500 standard on International (paper) Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Apart from this they must also have 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), 70 on Michigan, SAT critical reading score of 370, graduation from an English-medium high school with a 2.5 (cumulative equivalent) GPA or higher.
