Course summary
This program is designed to prepare students to work with older people in a wide variety of settings. A faculty advisor works closely with each student to develop an individualized, career-oriented course of study.
Program modules
The modules include AGER 3480, Psychology of Adult Development and Aging, AGER 4550, Sociology of Aging, AGER 4780, Aging Programs and Services, AGER 4840, Studies in Aging Field Practicum, AGER 4850, Studies in Aging Field Practicum, AGER 2250, Images of Aging in Film and Literature (may be used to satisfy the Humanities requirement), AGER 4020, Psychology of Death and Dying, AGER 4500, Long-Term Care Case Management with Older Adults, AGER 4560, Minority Aging (may be used to satisfy a portion of the Understanding the Human Community requirement), AGER 4700, Women in Later Life.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have graduated from an accredited high school and strongly recommend that students take the following classes in high school. Students should have a strong ‘B’ average and have completed three units of English and two units each of solid mathematics, social science and natural science. Students should have a minimum combined SAT (combined critical reading/verbal and math) score of 1180 or ACT composite of 26. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
