Course summary
This program offers an introduction to the field of modernist architectural preservation, the agencies and frameworks within which it is carried out internationally, and examines a number of global, national and local case studies. It offers an overview of research methods utilized in preservation practice and requires that students undertake an in depth capstone research investigation of a selected reality-based case study. Graduates of the program will be equipped to work under the supervision of an architect or an architectural historian to document historical buildings, undertake archival research or other more general aspects of architectural practice not requiring licensure.

Entry requirement for international students
Applicant must have completed the equivalent of an American secondary school education (usually 12 years of formal education) and have the appropriate graduation diplomas or satisfactory leaving examination results. Applicants still attending their secondary school (usually the first 12 years of schooling and equivalent to a U.S. high school) or if they have taken fewer than 15 credits (generally four to five courses or one-half year of study) at an institution of higher education after satisfactorily completing their secondary schooling can also apply. They should have grade point average of 3.0 in college-prep courses with B average. They must have obtained minimum TOEFL scores of 550 for paper-based test, 213 for computer-based test, and 79 for internet-based test; or they should have IELTS minimum score of 6.0.
