Course summary
This program is designed to provide breadth to a professional architectural education and it incorporates University’s general education requirements. It enables students to take advantage of the educational opportunities offered by the wider university community to gain understanding of the social, economic, political, and technological factors which shape the built environment. They also learn theories and techniques of architectural visualization and design in a four year sequence and are introduced to architectural history and building technology.

The modules are ARCH 1001 Introduction to Design and the Environment; ARCH 1011 Design Representation I; ARCH 1031 Design Fundamentals I; MATH 1031 Differential and Integral Calculus; English 0802, 0812 or 0902 Analytical Reading and Writing; ARCH 1012 Design Representation II; ARCH 1032 Design Fundamentals II; ARCH 2131 Architectural Design I; ARCH 2141 Architectural History: Ancient through Early Renaissance; ARCH 2151 Architecture, Technology, and the Environment; Physics 1021 Introduction to General Physics I; ARCH 3243 Movements in Modern Architecture; ARCH 3251 Structural Analysis for Architects; ARCH 3252 Structural Design for Architects I; ARCH 4253 Structural Design for Architects II; ARCH 4351 Environmental Control Systems for Buildings; ARCH 4096 Professional Practice.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicant must have completed the equivalent of an American secondary school education (usually 12 years of formal education) and have the appropriate graduation diplomas or satisfactory leaving examination results. Applicants still attending their secondary school (usually the first 12 years of schooling and equivalent to a U.S. high school) or if they have taken fewer than 15 credits (generally four to five courses or one-half year of study) at an institution of higher education after satisfactorily completing their secondary schooling can also apply. They should have grade point average of 3.0 in college-prep courses with B average. They must have obtained minimum TOEFL scores of 550 for paper-based test, 213 for computer-based test, and 79 for internet-based test; or they should have IELTS minimum score of 6.0.
