Course summary
This program will prepare athletic training students for the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Exam by seeing that each student meets the standards for certification and is able to master entry-level tasks as defined by the NATABOC competencies; develop professional athletic trainers that abide by high professional and personal ethical standards, which will contribute in a positive manner to the continued development of the profession of athletic training. Graduates of the program will demonstrate knowledge of the history and development of athletic training as a career, basic prevention and care of athletic injuries and illnesses, foundations of rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and nutrition; explain and manually demonstrate proper taping and wrapping techniques of upper and lower extremities; explain and manually demonstrate an athletic injury evaluation of the lower extremity using subjective, objective, assessment and plan (SOAP).
Entry requirement for international students
Students seeking admission to this University must have a minimum score of 500 in paper-based, 173 in computer-based or 61 in internet-based TOEFL. Studentss with a TOEFL score below 500, 173 or 61 and willing to study in Rapid City campus are required to participate in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program until they satisfy the required completion criteria. Studentss are also required to have one of the following: official academic transcript or marks sheets from previous secondary education institutions and universities attended; a transcript from an accredited US higher education institution or from an international institution that is approved by the country’s national ministry of education or appropriate approved body indicating completion of a post-secondary program or certified GED examination report.
