Course summary
The Biochemistry major is most appropriate for premedical and predental students or students with a strong interest in biomedical research. It replaces the biochemistry option and is more rigorous than the pption in both math and chemistry requirements. It includes an additional semester of math, a second semester of physical chemistry with laboratory, a biochemical methods course, and an additional advanced biochemistry course. It requires 35 credit hours of chemistry courses beyond general chemistry.

Entry requirement for international students
Students should possess graduation from an accredited high school or they should have received a GED. The high school curricular core requirements should include the following courses: 4 units of English, 3 units of college prep math, 3 units of laboratory science, 3 units of history and citizenship and 2 additional units. An official TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test (213 on the computer-based test or 79 on the internet-based test), IELTS score of 6.5 and cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) is required.
