The Department of Biology is one of 20 departments and programs in the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Texas at Tyler. The Department of Biology offers a Master of Science degree in biology, Master of Science in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in biology, Bachelor of Science in biology, and participates in teacher certification in life sciences, grades 8-12, and the science component for certifications in early childhood through 8th grade. The biology program offers students an opportunity to gain an appreciation of the biological world, to develop an inquisitive nature, to think scientifically, to prepare for entry into one of the medical professions, to train as a prospective teacher, and to prepare for advanced study.
