Course summary

This course helps the students to develop the important technical, professional, ethical, and interpersonal skills they need to succeed in this fast-growing field. Course work will also provide an overview of key business areas to increase student’s ability to effectively partner with other functions and contribute to the company's success. Students may go deeper into certain business areas by selecting elective courses based on their professional goals and needs. People who choose this specialization are often pursuing professional accounting, auditing, or other financial recording and reporting positions in a wide variety of business, nonprofit, government or financial service settings.

Program modules

Core modules include: Developing a Business Perspective BUS3004, Fundamentals of Management and Leadership BUS3010, Fundamentals of E-Business BUS3020, Fundamentals of Marketing and Sales BUS3030, Fundamentals of Human Resource Management BUS3040, Fundamentals of Organizational Communication BUS3050 and Fundamentals of Finance and Accounting BUS3060. Specialization modules include: Financial Accounting Principles BUS4060, Managerial Accounting Principles BUS4061, Intermediate Financial Accounting Topics and Trends BUS4062, Advanced Financial Accounting Topics and Trends BUS4063, Cost Accounting for Planning and Control BUS4064, Income Tax Concepts and Strategies BUS4065, Contemporary Auditing: An Ethical Perspective BUS4066 and Foundations in Finance BUS4070. Elective Courses include choosing 39 credits of additional undergraduate courses and Capstone Course to be taken during final quarter Business Capstone Project - 6 quarter credits BUS4993. To complete the Degree students need 45 quarter credits in general education subject areas with a minimum of 6 quarter credits from each category. Residents of Arkansas must complete Arkansas general education requirements.

Entry requirement for international students

Students must have completed high school diploma or equivalent. They must be at least 24 years old. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
