Course summary

This program focuses on foundations of business operations providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to help organizations be successful in today’s globally competitive environment. With knowledge gained from an integrated general education and business core program coupled with the business concentration courses, students will especially be prepared in the essential areas of economics, accounting, management, organizational communications, and marketing. With this preparation, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge to analyze and synthesize company data and other data elements in support of business operations critical to the success of the respective organization, business, or corporation. Students will be prepared to assume entry-level positions in the areas of business operations, management, customer service, purchasing, costs estimation, finances, and marketing as well as the positions of adjusters, public relations specialists, buyers, compensation, and benefits specialists, and other similar positions. Upon completion of the course students will have gained basic knowledge of business principles, developed a basic understanding of business principles and process in accounting, project management, economics, marketing and management to effectively work and contribute positively to the respective company or organization and developed basic teaming, collaboration, and leadership skills and learn how to apply these skills in the workplace for improvement and effective operations at the individual, workgroup, corporate and organizational levels.

Program modules

The Lower Division Courses must include at least one course in Math or Natural Science, one in Social Science or Behavioral Science, one in Humanities or Fine Arts and one in Communications (English). The foundation course, FD 1412 Management Intervention is strongly recommended for all students. The other courses include: BS 1401 Introduction to Business, BS 3400 Leadership and Organizational Dynamics, BS 4465 Ethical Character of Leadership, BS 4456 Directed Field Experience in Area of Concentration, CO 1405 Microcomputer Applications, BS 2400 eCommerce, BS 2408 Management: Theory, Practices, and Applications, BS 1406 Accounting Principles I, BS 2406 Accounting Principles II, BS 2418 Marketing: Principles and Practices, BS 4452 ePortfolio in General Business, EC 3403 Micro Economics, EC 3405 Macro Economics, HD 4420 Human Resources Management: Analysis and Procedures, BS 1405 Computers in Business, BS 2412 Financial Management, BS 3405 Business Statistics, BS 3406 Financial Accounting, BS 3430 Business Law, BS 4406 Managerial Accounting and BS 4450 Organizational Communication.

Entry requirement for international students

Applicants should have a minimum TOEFL score of 440 for the paper examination version and 123 for the computer version or equivalent score of an approved equivalent test.
