Course summary
This program is designed to offer the core business knowledge and project management skills, which the students need to, apply in traditional project management techniques to cross-functional business initiatives. It is built around the competencies in “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge” (PMBOK Guide), a globally recognized standard for project management. Because Capella is a registered education provider of the Project Management Institute (PMI), students can earn their bachelor’s in business and professional development units (PDUs) from PMI at the same time. People who choose this specialization are often interested in pursuing project lead or coordinator positions in corporations, consulting firms or government agencies.
Program modules
Core modules include: Developing a Business Perspective BUS3004, Fundamentals of Management and Leadership BUS3010, Fundamentals of E-Business BUS3020, Fundamentals of Marketing and Sales BUS3030, Fundamentals of Human Resource Management BUS3040, Fundamentals of Organizational Communication BUS3050, Fundamentals of Finance and Accounting BUS3060. Specialization modules include: Introduction to Project Management BUS4090, Project Management I BUS4091, Project Management II BUS4092, Contracts and Procurement BUS4093, Managing Project Risk BUS4094, Motivating Project Teams BUS4095, Ethics and Enterprise BUS4801 and Change Management BUS4802. Elective module is choosing 39 quarter credits of additional undergraduate courses. Capstone module to be taken in the final quarter is BUS4993 - Business Capstone Project - 6 quarter credits. To complete the Degree, students need 45 quarter credits in general education subject areas with a minimum of 6 quarter credits from each category. Residents of Arkansas must complete Arkansas general education requirements.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed high school diploma or equivalent. They must be at least 24 years old. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
