Course summary
This program is concerned with the organization and design of computers and computer systems. The study of computer hardware and software, and their integration and application, is emphasized. The undergraduate program in computer engineering integrates studies in mathematics, basic sciences, engineering sciences, and engineering design. The program is structured to establish analytical and design skills in areas such as computer architecture, digital logic design, analog and mixed-signal circuits, computer communication networks, digital computer control, integrated circuit engineering, software engineering, operating systems, data structures and algorithms, computer–aided engineering, and electronic design automation. Complementing these fundamentals, the program also provides opportunities for specialization in individually selected areas of interest.

Entry requirement for international students
Students whose first language is not English and who are admitted to Michigan State University with regular admission must meet one of the following language proficiency requirements. They should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 on internet based test (with no sub score below 17) and 550 on paper based test (with no sub score below 52). An IELTS score of 6.5 or higher is required. They should have secured an SAT critical reading score of 480 or higher and an ACT exam sub score of 18 or higher on the English section. Average score of at least 80 with no subs core below 80 is required for Michigan State University English Language Test (MSUELT) and an average score of 80 or higher is required for Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB).
