Course summary

This program is designed to build both technical and business skills, a combination that is increasingly valued by today's employers. Through the choice of electives, students can design a broad program that touches on several IT disciplines or narrow their focus to deepen the knowledge in their niche area of information technology, including networking, web development, project management or information security. People choosing this specialization is often pursuing entry or senior level technical specialist positions in a variety of IT related fields.

Program modules

Core modules include: IT3006 - Communication Strategies for the Information Technology Professional, Fundamentals of Project Management IT3120, Ethical and Human Side of Information Technology IT3160, Enterprise Architecture IT3200, Human-Computer Interaction IT3300, Hardware and Operating Systems Architecture IT3310, Fundamentals of Software Architecture IT3340, Network and Security Architecture IT3350. Specialization modules include choosing 42 quarter credits of upper-division Information Technology courses. Elective course include 39 quarter credits of additional undergraduate courses. The School of Undergraduate Studies recommends that 18 of these quarter credits be earned through undergraduate Information Technology courses. Capstone Course to be taken during the learner's final quarter is Integrated Action Learning Project - 6 quarter credits IT4990. To complete the Degree, students need 45 quarter credits in general education subject areas with a minimum of 6 quarter credits from each category. Residents of Arkansas must complete Arkansas general education requirements.

Entry requirement for international students

Students must have completed high school diploma or equivalent. They must be at least 24 years old. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
