Course summary
This program is designed to help students to acquire and apply the latest tools, techniques and methods of securing an enterprise, while building the business and communication skills they need to influence internal decision making and enhance organizational effectiveness. The courses in this specialization reflect the Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) body of knowledge frameworks developed by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2). People who choose this specialization are often pursuing technical specialist or analyst-level information security positions in businesses, government, and the military. Program modules
Core modules include: Communication Strategies for the Information Technology Professional IT3006, Fundamentals of Project Management IT3120, Ethical and Human Side of Information Technology IT3160, Enterprise Architecture IT3200, Human-Computer Interaction IT3300, Hardware and Operating Systems Architecture IT3310, Fundamentals of Software Architecture IT3340 and Network and Security Architecture IT3350. Specialization modules include: System Assurance Security IT4803, Cyber Defense and Countermeasures IT4070, Cyber Attacks and Ethical Hacking IT4071, Operating Systems Security IT4072, Organizational Security IT4073, Applications Security IT4074, Computer Forensics IT4075 and Security Management and Policies IT4076. Elective course include 33 quarter credits of additional undergraduate courses. The School of Undergraduate Studies recommends that 18 of these quarter credits be earned through undergraduate Information Technology courses. Capstone course to be taken in the final quarter include IT4990 - Integrated Action Learning Project - 6 quarter credits. To complete the Degree, students need 45 quarter credits in general education subject areas with a minimum of 6 quarter credits from each category. Residents of Arkansas must complete Arkansas general education requirements.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed high school diploma or equivalent. They must be at least 24 years old. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
