Course summary
This program is designed to provide you with an emphasis in Web developer/Webmaster skills. This four-year degree program will prepare you as a computer professional with the responsibility of developing and maintaining Web pages for your own corporation or as a business for other corporations. It will provide students with knowledge of current information technology, the foundation knowledge of business operations and practices, and the analytical skills to support the information needs of a business; develop the problem-solving skills needed to adapt technology to meet the needs of business; provide students with methods to analyze, design, implement and maintain computer-based information systems to support the decision-making function of management; prepare students to secure positions commensurate with their emphasis areas (network administration, network management, management information systems, programming, web development); encourage students to participate in continuing education activities and maintain professional memberships; measure key student learning outcomes continuously, and identify and implement opportunities for improvement. Graduates of the program will support the data management needs of business through the design, implementation, and maintenance of relational databases; solve a variety of business problems through the application of structured program analysis and design concepts; explain current networking technologies including local area networks, wide area networks, the Internet, and the hardware and software used in constructing a network infrastructure; identify, describe, install and configure the hardware associated with personal computer systems; establish the information technology needs of a business, and plan an appropriate solution and procurement strategy; design, develop and maintain interactive web sites employing both server-side and client-side programming methodologies.
Entry requirement for international students
Students who are not native speakers of English must have an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report with a minimum score of 500 paper-based, 173 computer based or 61 Internet-based; provide an official transcript that indicates completion of a post-secondary program of at least two years in length with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0/4.0; provide an official International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score report with an overall minimum score of 5.5; provide evidence of completion of two semesters (or equivalent) of college-level English (excluding ESL courses) with a grade of C or higher at an accredited college or university whose language of instruction is English; provide evidence of English language proficiency as deemed appropriate by National American University.
