Course summary

This program, offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is for students with strong interests in both mathematics and computer science. The major courses are divided about equally between the two areas. The first two years are spent on basic work in mathematics and general education, and an introduction to the fundamental areas of computer science: programming, theory of computation, the architecture of digital computers, and numerical analysis. The third year completes the work in basic computer science and mathematics and requires electives to broaden the background of the student. During the fourth year, each student is encouraged to obtain a deeper understanding of topics in which the student has particular interest.

Entry requirement for international students

All applicants should furnish the high school coursework requirements in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Lab. Science, one Foreign Language and flexible academic units; ACT Composite scores or SAT I scores and activities, service, and work experience. An audition, portfolio or interview may be required for Fine and Applied Arts applicants.

The University of Illinois provides a variety of housing options for undergraduate, graduate students, guest and visiting scholars and students with families. It offers Beckwith residence halls, living-learning communities, Ashton Woods apartments and private certified housing to the undergraduate students. The privately owned certified housing units on campus are home to over 2,400 students. Located on or near the campus, all are within walking distance to the Quad, classrooms and libraries. Undergraduate students with 30 or more credits are eligible to apply for a lease at Ashton Woods apartments, which offer two-bedroom unfurnished apartments, cable, High-Speed Internet, Off-Street lighted Parking. Water/Sewer/Trash is included in the rent and laundry facilities in each building. Daniels Hall, Ashton Woods apartments, Goodwin-Green apartments, Orchard Downs apartments and Sherman Hall are offered to the graduate students. To support the academic success of graduate students and students with families, it also offers apartment communities at Ashton Woods, Goodwin-Green, and Orchard Downs to accommodate their unique needs. The residence hall dining centers are located throughout campus. The university's special free-flow dining service allows students to eat any meal in any residence hall dining location. They offer a choice of dining plans with various degrees of flexibility.
