Course summary
Students majoring in recreation should meet early in their college careers with a faculty member in the Department of Health Education and Recreation to identify their area of interest and recommended electives. Within the field of recreation, certifications may be required for employment in different interest areas and the faculty member will discuss these with interested students. All students are encouraged to obtain the American Red Cross First Aid Certificate. Students focusing on a therapeutic orientation should attempt to acquire either academic or practical experience related to physiological, psychological and sociological functioning and the concomitant effect of disability.
Program modules
The courses are: REC 365, 375, 425, 445, 465, ACCT 210 or 220, WED 306 or CI 483a. Six hours selected from PSYC 301, 303, 304, 305, 307, 320, 323, 333.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicant should have secondary school certificates or mark sheet and all college/university transcripts. They should also submit the scores from the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and should have a bank statement or letter from their sponsor, with the financial statement attached, and return it with their admission application. Successful completion of the TOEFL examination with the following scores - 520 (PB), 190 (CB), 68 (IB) and score of 6.5 on the IELTS Exam are required for admission.
