Course summary
This program features a rigorous curriculum taught by top-notch professors, and students will have hands-on research opportunities. Students will gain a broad understanding of genetics, preparing them for an entry-level position or graduate studies. As a genetics graduates, student will be qualified for careers in: medicine, genetic counseling, university research and teaching, biotechnology, science-related industry fields. Graduates will also be prepared to pursue a postgraduate degree including: master of science (MS), doctor of medicine (MD), doctor of philosophy (PhD), combined medical-science doctorate (MD/PhD). Its alumni enjoy successful careers in many areas of genetics, medicine, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical research and sales.

The following are the modules: Biology Core Required Courses: Bio 111 Principles of Biology 1, Bio 112 Principles of Biology 2, Bio 210 Intro Botany, Bio 214 Genetics, Bio 215 Cell Biology, Bio 216 Ecology, Bio 217 Ecology Methods, Other Required Courses, Chem 111 General Chemistry 1, Chem 112 General Chemistry 2, Chem 231 Organic Chemistry, Phycs 110 General Physics 1, Maths 111 Pre-Calculus -or-Maths 161 Applied Calculus 1, Genetics Option Required Courses: Bio 448 Biometry, Bio 452 Advanced Genetics , Bio 453 Human Genetics, Bio 454 Genomes, Bio 457 Molecular Biology, 5 hrs from 200-400 level of Biology, Biotechnology, Botany, or Zoology.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must have at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale and must have completed a minimum of 12 years of primary and secondary school, undertaking a university-preparatory curriculum. Departments may set a higher requirement than a score of 550/79 (TOEFL) or 6.5 (IELTS) for their majors.
