Entry requirement for international students
Students are granted admission on the basis of high school grade point average, performance on the SAT completion of a college preparatory program, optional letters of recommendation, and an optional admissions essay. They must have 4 units of English; 3 units of social science/history; 3 units of biological and physical science in at least two different subject areas (with 2 of the units including a laboratory experience); 3 units of mathematics including Algebra I (or Applied Math I and II), Algebra II and Geometry (or Formal Logic); and 2 units of a foreign language or, in Maryland, 2 units of advanced technology. The foreign language requirement may be waived for a student who demonstrates proficiency in a foreign language if the high school will provide certification of equivalent course work completed before high school. International students should have a minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based test); 213 (computer-based test); or 79 (iBT).
