Course summary
This program is a system for measuring and reporting the financial position and performance of a variety of entities to interested parties. These organizations include business firms, governmental units, and nonprofit organizations. Users of financial information include management, stockholders, and creditors. The scope of the accounting discipline is broad and varied. Specific functional areas are as follows: financial accounting, managerial accounting, governmental and nonprofit accounting, international accounting, auditing, information systems, and taxation. The department also offers business law courses.

Entry requirement for international students
Students must have taken course in Accounting 315. They must have B average in Accounting 210 and Accounting 211 at UIC and pass in the Accounting Qualifying Examination. They must present a satisfactory combination of class rank and ACT or SAT test scores. Applicants from countries where the official language of the country is not English must have the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 520 on paper-based or 190 on computer-based is required for admission.
