The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness is nationally and internationally known for teaching, research, service programs, and providing outstanding undergraduate and graduate degrees. The agricultural economists of the LSU Agricultural Center work to develop extension and outreach educational programs that deliver relevant farm financial management, market and policy information and to teach the use of economic principles in making business decisions. These programs are designed to: enhance the use of economic principles and market information in solving the economic problems faced by people in farming, agribusinesses, natural resources and rural communities; support educational development that uses research-based knowledge and interdisciplinary efforts to address the needs of Louisiana's agriculture and natural resources; and respond to high-priority issues relating to farming, agribusiness, natural resources and rural communities.

LSU has 17 residence halls with architectural styles ranging from a Renaissance style typical of the new Residential College Complex and the older core of the campus, to the modern style typical of the halls along Campus Lake. Residence hall rooms can generally be described in one of two ways. Traditional rooms, most common among the older halls, are usually large with high ceilings and free-standing furniture that student can arrange as they desire. All rooms are air-conditioned with window units in each room. Modern rooms, common in newer halls with central air-conditioning, are more compact but maximize living space by using built-in furniture. Smoking is not permitted in rooms or any other areas in the residence halls. East and West Campus Apartments provide state-of-the-art accommodations, including private rooms with telephone service, basic cable TV, in room data connections, washer/dryer combinations, and full size kitchens with microwave ovens and garbage disposals. Each apartment has attractively furnished living rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas. In the Power Activity Building students will find additional study space, activities, programs, a TV lounge, email work stations, and professional and student staff to provide assistance as needed.
