Course summary
This well-established athletic training program prepares students in the prevention, recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by athletes and the physically active-skills important for a career in the multidisciplinary field of sports medicine. Athletic trainers administer immediate emergency care and, under the supervision of a licensed physician, help develop a treatment program based on medical, exercise, and sports sciences. The program is structured to provide a rigorous plan of study to include both academic and clinical education experiences. Students rotate through three on-campus athletic training facilities and several off-site affiliated settings during their clinical education, acquiring valuable clinical skills under the direct supervision of certified athletic training staff in a variety of clinical experience settings including all levels of collegiate athletics, secondary schools, sports medicine clinics, and professional sports.

Modules include BIOSC 0150/0050 Foundations of Biology/Lab, 4 credits ENGCMP 0200 General Writing, 3 credits MATH 0031 Algebra,3 credits Elective, 3 credits Elective,3 credits CHEM 0110 Chemistry/Lab, 4 credits PSY 0010 Introduction to Psychology, 3 credits Composition Elective, 3 credits STAT 0200 Basic Applied Statistics, 4 credits.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants should complete at least 60 credits of coursework prior to matriculating to SHRS. Applications may be submitted while prerequisite requirements are in progress. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (based on 4.0) and minimum grade of C- in all prerequisite courses are required. Admission to some programs is competitive. Meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee admission.
