The Department provides the outstanding facilities are available for support of faculty and student research projects. The department is well-equipped with specialized, state-of-the-art instrumentation, including Varian 300 and 500 MHz NMRs, Waters Acquity UPLC / Micromass QToF Micro Mass Spectrometer, JEOL GC Mate II Magnetic Sector Mass Spectrometer, Perkin Elmer AAanalyst 200 Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, ISS PC1 Photon Counting Spectrofluorometer, Nicolet 6700 and 550 FT-IR Spectrophotometers, NIRSystems 6500 NIR Spectrophotometer, HP8453, Varian Cary 50, and Shimadzu UVmini 1240 UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, Multiple liquid and gas chromatographs from Perkin Elmer, Hitachi, Agilent, and more, Protein Technologies, Inc. PS3 Peptide Synthesizer. The department also maintains an excellent glassblowing facility in which specialty glassware for research and instructional activities can be fabricated in-house. Also available within the department are a fully-equipped stockroom and electronics services.
