Course summary

This program is a broad based education that allows students to adapt to changes in technology in the rapidly changing society. Students in mechanical engineering follow a program which contains basic groundwork in all aspects of mechanical engineering, but flexibility in the curriculum allows students to pursue elective programs in fields such as aeronautics, robotics, computers, electronics, automatic controls, and materials.

Program modules

The modules include MEAM 101 Introduction to Mechanical Design, MEAM 111 Visual Thinking, MEAM 215 Elements of Mechanical Engineering Design, MEAM 410 Design of Mechatronic Systems, MEAM 415 Product Design, MEAM 511 Creating Thinking and Design, MEAM 514 Design for Manufacturability, EAS 545 Engineering Entrepreneurship I, EAS 546 Engineering Entreprenership II, ESE 400/540 Engineering Economics.

Entry requirement for international students

Applicants should have completed a program of secondary education. They should also take up the SAT Reasoning test and two SAT subject tests, or the ACT with writing. Penn tends to admit students with a TOEFL score of 100 and above in Internet-Based test, 600 and above in Paper-Based test and 260 or above in Computer-Based test. However, if a student scores higher than 650 on the Critical Reading Section of the SAT Reasoning test, then the student is exempted from taking the TOEFL exam.
