Course summary
Chemistry courses deal with the nature and composition of matter and the laws that govern chemical reactions. They are offered to meet the needs of three groups of students: those who choose to make chemistry or chemical engineering their profession; those who require a certain amount of chemistry as an adjunct to some related vocation; and those who desire a knowledge of chemistry as part of a general education.
Program modules
The modules include 100 Introduction to Environmental Chemistry, 102 Chemistry of Art, 125 General Chemistry, 126 General Chemistry, 135 General Chemistry Lab I, 136 General Chemistry Lab II, 140 Advanced General Chemistry I, 240 Quantitative Analysis and Chemical Equilibrium, 245 Organic Chemistry I, 246 Organic Chemistry II.
Entry requirement for international students
All international applicants must submit an official score from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum TOEFL score of 85 (for the internet-based exam) or 560 (for the paper-based exam) is required. The institution code for sending your TOEFL score to Whitman is 4951. All international applicants to the College must be proficient in written and spoken English to ensure their academic success at the College.
