Course summary
This course Clinical Doctorate in Speech Language Pathology offered by the Department of Communication Science and Disorders at School of Health and Rehabilitation is an advanced professional doctoral program recommended for the student or practicing speech language pathologist seeking to learn state-of-the-science information and clinical skills. This degree will prepare clinical leaders in medical speech language pathology for modern medical settings and practices. Graduates of this program will be prepared for independence, leadership, and excellence in clinical practice in the medical setting, as well as clinical faculty positions.
Program modules
Modules include advanced clinical courses in anatomy, physiology, cognitive science, neuroscience, acoustic and physiological phonetics.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants should hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. A minimum overall and prerequisite GPA of 3.0 although 3.3 or higher is preferred. A grade below C- in a prerequisite course is not acceptable and should be repeated. Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for admission may be considered if strong supporting evidence of their ability to complete a graduate program is provided. Graduate Record Examination scores (GRE-general). The results should be forwarded to the University of Pittsburgh - Institutional Code - 2927; Department Code - 0619. The average of students offered admission is 1060 (verbal and quantitative) and an average percentile ranking of 49 (verbal and quantitative). The minimal preferred score for the written portion is 3.5. The GRE should be within the past 5 years. Admission requirements also include the test scores of GRE and TOEFL or IELTS. The minimum required IELTS score is 6.5. The minimum required TOEFL score is 80 on the IBT (213 on the computer-based test, 550 on the paper-based test).
