Course summary
The Department participates in the School of Medicine’s M.D.-Ph.D. Program in which students may obtain both degrees. The curriculum will be tailored to the needs of the individual student. Students interested in this program should contact Dr. R. Werner at the address given above.
Entry requirement for international students
Requirements for Admission: Students applying for graduate study leading to a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology should have a bachelor's degree in natural science, or should have a strong background in science, particularly chemistry. They are expected to have completed two semesters of general chemistry, two semesters of organic chemistry with laboratory work and two semesters of physical chemistry. Two semesters of physics, mathematics through calculus, and least two semesters of biology or microbiology are also required. Students should have achieved at least a "B" average in undergraduate courses and must have taken the general sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). A combined score of 1200 (Quantitative and Verbal) is normally acceptable for entry into the Ph.D. program. Applicants with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry or foreign students with equivalent training may be admitted with advanced graduate standing.
