Course summary
This program is designed with the dual purpose of preparing students for the performance of minor surgical procedures as well as recognizing and understanding the clinical management of those diseases commonly found within the domain of the oral surgeon. The students receive instruction and acquire skill in the manipulation of soft and hard tissues, i.e. flap procedures, alveoloplasty and suturing techniques. They also acquire skill in the removal of erupted teeth. The program provides insight into the surgical management of more complex problems such as fractures, impactions, salivary gland diseases, tumors and developmental abnormalities and instruction in patient evaluation, pain and anxiety control, and the management of physiological emergencies.

Entry requirement for international students
Students must hold a bachelors degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Applicants whose first or native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English prior to matriculation. To be considered for admission; an applicant must present an acceptable score on the TOEFL or IELTS test. They should have obtained a minimum score of 550 on paper based test; 213 on computer based test and; 80 on internet based test. An overall score of at least 6.5 with no sub-section below 6 is required on the International English Language Testing System exam (IELTS).
