Entry requirement for international students
Students must have a master's degree in orthodontics or equivalent from an accredited institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 5.0 scale for the final 60 semester hours of undergraduate work and all post-baccalaureate credit, GRE general test score of combined verbal and quantitative, writing sample, letters of recommendation and personal statement. For international students, TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) is required.

The Department was founded in 1929 with the goal of offering graduate study in orthodontics. Since its inception it has been engaged in research, teaching and patient care. The graduates have contributed greatly to the development of dentistry's oldest specialty. The Department occupies a 6000 square-foot location on the first floor of the College of Dentistry building at the University of Illinois at Chicago with additional space on the second and fourth floors. Facilities include a modern orthodontic clinic and clinical laboratory; reception and waiting area; computer, data-processing, and microscopy laboratory; the Brodie Library; orthodontic technique laboratory for photography, appliance construction and plaster work; seminar room; Ricketts Research and Conference Facility; faculty offices; headquarters for ESCO, the Electronic Study Club for Orthodontics; the Skeletal Tissue Engineering Laboratory; and the Brodie Laboratory for Craniofacial Genetics.

Campus Housing challenges and supports students in recognizing themselves as unique, evolving, and self-directed individuals who value lifelong learning and good citizenship. The campus provides the different housing styles such as Residence Halls, Special Interest Communities, Graduate, Intern, Family, Guest and Off campus Housing. Each residence hall has air conditioning and heat, free laundry for residents, kitchenettes and vending machines, computer lab, Lounges and common areas, walking distance to cafeterias and recreational facilities. The bedrooms of the residence hall are extra-long twin bed, desk and chair, clothes closet and storage drawers, couch, two living room chairs, and three tables. For telephone jack, cable TV connection and high-speed internet connection (including wireless) additional fees may apply. Intern housing provides safe, clean, and affordable housing accommodations for these summer interns. It has the features of furnished rooms in 2- or 4-bedroom apartments, shared bathroom, kitchen and living room and 24-hour security and has the amenities of on-site laundry, computer lab and vending. Family housing is offered on the 5th Floor of Single Student Residence (SSR), and can currently accommodate 15 families. Living arrangements include 2-3 bedroom apartment and suite style living. All apartments or suites come completely furnished with living and bedroom furniture including cooking facilities within the apartments. They offer 9 month academic year contracts and 12 month contracts. For Off campus housing students can refer the website given below (http://www.housing.uic.edu/offcampus/). On campus students can choose the 7-Day RED meal plan and go home students can choose 5-Day BLUE meal plan.
