Course summary
The Early Childhood Education teacher education program is designed to prepare educational leaders who are able to maximize the development and learning of children with diverse needs in a variety of program settings serving children from birth through age eight years. The Doctor of Education Degree builds upon the students' master's degree by allowing them to specialize in a field of studies and to expand their competencies in research. Students in the doctoral program have the opportunity to individualize their program of studies, through the doctoral residency, thus allowing them the flexibility of an in depth exploration in areas related to their career goals. A doctoral student must select one of the following course enrollment options: The student will maintain two semesters of continuous enrollment of 9 hours per semester. The enrollment requirement may be satisfied by enrolling in fall, spring, and summer semesters. Three semesters of continuous enrollment per semester during two consecutive summers and at least 3 hours per semester during the intervening fall and spring semesters. Nine hours of enrollment per semester during two consecutive summers and at least 3 hours per semester during intervening fall and spring semesters. Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must possess a baccalaureate or master's degree from an accredited college or university. International students whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency by obtaining minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 210 (computer-based).
