Course summary
In this program, students will take the standard PharmD program courses during the first two professional years at the College of Pharmacy. During the third and fourth professional years, students who decide to pursue the joint degree will begin the completion of 35 semester hours required for the joint Master of Science in Health Informatics, including the practicum and project research requirements, while continuing with their College of Pharmacy professional education.

The courses includes BHIS 460 Introduction to Health Informatics, BHIS 510 Health Care Information Systems, BHIS 515 Management of Health Care Communication Systems, BHIS 500 Strategic Inquiry in BHIS, BHIS 525 Social and Organizational Issues in Health Informatics, BHIS 520 Health Information Systems Analysis & Design, BHIS 537 Health Care IT Vendor Management, BHIS 597/598 Project Research or Thesis, BHIS 527 Knowledge Management (suggested elective), BHIS 437 Health Care Data, BHIS 511 Application of Health Care Information Systems, BHIS 528 Consumer Health Informatics (suggested elective) and BHIS 580 Practicum.
Entry requirement for international students
Admission to this program requires a baccalaureate degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for the final 60 semester (90 quarter) hours of undergraduate study and for all cumulative graduate work, at least two years of experience outside the academic setting in the health care or information technology fields, strong written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills. For international students, TOEFL scores in the range of 585-600 for paper-based or 240-250 for computer based or 95 for iBT is considered.
