Course summary

This program is intended for students whose goal is a career in scientific research. The ultimate aim of this degree is to train a scientist who can independently pursue a research project. To facilitate the educational process, each student has an advisory committee that functions to both advise the student and monitor the student's progress.

The program modules are as follows: Chemical Systems - three quarter sequence, Chem 3110 - Chemical Systems I - 3 quarter hours, Chem 3120 - Chemical Systems II - 3 quarter hours, Chem 3130 - Chemical Systems III - 3 quarter hours, Molecular Structure and Energetics - two quarter sequence, Chem 3310 - Molecular Structure and Energetics I - 3 quarter hours, Chem 3320 - Molecular Structure and Energetics II - 3 quarter hours, Biochemistry - two quarter sequence, Chem 3811 and 3812 - Biochemistry/Proteins and Analytical Chemistry - one quarter course, Chem 3220 - Advanced Analytical Chemistry - 3 quarter hours, Other Graduate Courses: Chem 3820 - Biochemistry Laboratory - 3 quarter hours, Advanced and Special Topic Courses: Chem 4900 - Chemistry Seminar - 1 quarter hour, Chem 4991 - Independent Study, Chem 4995 - Independent Research, Seminar And Independent Study/Research.

Entry requirement for international students

Students should have obtained a bachelor degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field. They should have a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (Internet based) and IELTS score of 6.0 or higher. In addition to this, GRE scores are also required.
