Course summary

The Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction is an interdisciplinary degree program involving the Departments of English; Mathematics; Middle, Secondary, and K-12 Education; Reading and Elementary Education; and many others across the UNC Charlotte campus. Literacy Education (English, Reading, Teaching English as a Second Language) with research and theory applied to problems of literacy learning and instruction. Students focus on elementary, middle/secondary, or post-secondary.

Entry requirement for international students

Students must have must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Student should have earned at least an overall grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in the graduate degree program. Addition to Graduate Application Instructions regarding minimum required English Language Proficiency Scores: TOEFL (Test Of English As A Foreign Language). Minimum required score: 83 (internet based test), 220 (computer based test), 557 (paper based test). IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Minimum required score: 6.5 overall band score. MELAB (Michigan English Language Battery) Minimum required score: 78
