Entry requirement for international students
The student should initiate an application for admission to candidacy once all requirements, except the dissertation prospectus and the dissertation, have been completed. The Application for Admission to Candidacy for Doctoral Degrees form must be filed with the Graduate School at least two semesters before graduation. The Department's admission recommendation to the GS is based on an evaluation of the quality of course of study and the applicant's cumulative GPA of previous degree(s), GRE scores, and letters of reference. Unacceptable TOEFL scores from foreign applicants automatically disqualify them from further consideration. The following criteria will serve as guides to the Department Graduate Committee in the admissions process.1. Grade point average - undergraduate > 3.0/4.0 2. GRE Scores - Verbal >450; Quantitative >650; Analytical >600 3. Three Letters of reference 4. TOEFL Score (for foreign students) - minimum 550; > 590 preferred 5. Transcripts are evaluated for evidence of an engineering science background.International students not having an engineering science background are generally not recommended for admission. Domestic students not having an engineering science background may be admitted with or without assistantship with stipulations to include selected extra undergraduate courses in their plan of study.6. BAE Graduate Coordinator’s recommendation on spoken English and engineering subject preparedness based on a telephone interview (for foreign students).
