Course summary
The focus of the graduate program in physics at MTU is the PhD degree. At MTU, we stress student research involvement, presentation of results at national meetings, and publication in refereed journals (for which the department will pay some or all travel and publication expenses, subject to availability of funds); internships with industry, and hard work.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution (graduates of a 3-year bachelor's program outside the US see the option. Students must have a TOEFL score of 550 (213 on the computer-based test or 79 on the internet-based test) is recommended by the Graduate School, however, the applicant should also check with individual programs to determine if a higher TOEFL is required for admission to that Graduate Program. Applicants who have completed a degree in the US may have the TOEFL requirement waived by the dean of the Graduate School.
