Course summary
This program includes academic coursework, clinical practicum, and research experience. If the student has an undergraduate degree in communication disorders or a related field, Student can enter the program directly. The broad-based academic coursework and clinical practical enables student to develop the skills student need to provide audiological assessment and intervention to individuals with hearing problems. The program culminates with a nine-month, full-time, clinical placement. The entry level clinical doctoral track includes courses in: Diagnostic Procedures, Amplification, Aural Rehabilitation, Medical Audiology, Instrumentation, Psychoacoustics, Research Methods and Practice. The entry level clinical doctoral track also includes six clinical practical, a clinical externship, and a nine month, full-time clinical residency. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has affiliations with an extensive set of external sites for clinical placements.
Entry requirement for international students
Students wishing to matriculate in this area must have completed a bachelor’s degree. Graduate students must demonstrate communication skills that will not interfere with clinical practice. A student who is judged to have questionable skills will be referred to a faculty panel for further evaluation. If necessary the student will be referred for assistance. Students requiring assistance will be reevaluated before they are allowed to enroll for clinical practice. Enrollment in clinical practice will be postponed until communication skills are judged to be sufficient. Student must complete GRE, GMAT, and TOEFL are administered worldwide by Educational Testing Service (ETS). Test of English as a Foreign Language/Internet Based Test where available (TOEFL/ IBT) is required of all students whose native language is not English and whose degree was obtained in a country where English is not the official language.
