Areas of particular research strength in the department include mycobacteriology, medical bacteriology, vector-borne diseases, retrovirus pathogenesis and therapy, immunoparasitology, inherited metabolic disease, and environmental toxin-induced disease.
Entry requirement for international students
A master degree is required for Ph.D. A bachelor degree is required for Masters for admission. Grade point average equivalent to a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of approximately 1100 total for the verbal and quantitative sections (average ~550 on each section) and 4.5 on the writing assessment. The University requires a minimum score of 80 on the IbT (213 on the computer-based TOEFL or 550 on the written exam). This requirement may also be met by submitting a score of 6.0 or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam.
