Entry requirement for international students
General admission requirements to graduate study are a bachelor's degree (B.A.) in related field. Students must complete 18 semester hours of undergraduate work with GPA of 3.0 in sociology or related field. They should have an acceptable proficiency in social science, analytical skills, and writing ability as determined by the sociology admissions committee and the IRAPP program committee. Minimum GRE score of 800 for verbal and quantitative preferred and a writing score of two or higher. Somewhat lower scores with other evidence (e.g. high GPA or research and writing output) of potential for quality work. Minimum TOEFL score of 525 for international students and they must submit a two-page typewritten statement of personal, educational, and career goals to be used as a writing sample.

The Institute for Regional Analysis and Public Policy (IRAPP) is a unique program at Morehead State University. As MSU's Program of Distinction, IRAPP brings together students, faculty, staff, citizens, and policy makers to study and develop action plans that will affect the lives of people in our service region. IRAPP combines well-established programs (Environmental Science, Geography, Government, Social Work, and Sociology) with a specified general education core and Regional Analysis courses that allow students and faculty to make a difference in their communities.

The Office of Student Housing will be providing a variety of summer housing options this year for all four of MSU's summer terms. In addition to providing options for traditional double occupancy rooms (and private rooms), a limited number of spaces in year-round housing facilities will also be available (Fields Hall, Thompson Hall, and University Apartments). If you have questions about summer housing, please contact the Housing office or speak to your Hall Director. Applications for summer housing can be picked up in the Housing Office (Thompson Hall). The priority deadline for applications is May 2, 2008; apply early to ensure your preference is available. All residence halls will close for the Spring Semester on Saturday, May 10, 2008, 5:00 p.m. Morehead State University’s On-Campus Residency Policy requires all full-time students under the age of 21 who have earned fewer than 60 University recognized college credit hours to live on campus and subscribe to the applicable dining requirement. Students must be 21 by the first day of class to fulfill residency requirement. All exemption requests must be received prior to July 15 for the fall Semester and December 1 for the spring semester. Exemption requests submitted after the deadline will be subject to a $100.00 late application-processing fee. This fee is required for exemption requests submitted after the semester deadline and does not guarantee an exemption will be approved.
