Course summary
The Computer Science Major is open to NCAS and UC students. A total of 57 credits is required for the Computer Science Major. Courses can be also be taken at NJIT using school code 28.
Program modules
Students will have their courses in Computers and Programming I, Computers and Programming I, Computers and Programming III, Intensive Programming Practicum, Principles of Operating Systems, Data Structure and Algorithm Design, Advanced Data Structures and Algorithm Design, Guided Design in Software Engineering.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma with required GPA. Regardless of US residency status, an English proficiency examination is required of all students whose secondary schooling has been outside the US in a country where English is not the principal language. Students who have achieved a grade of B or better in a college-level English Composition course in residence at an accredited US college are exempt from this requirement. English courses that are designated ESL, non-native, or which require a special support component, as well as courses taken outside the US, is not acceptable. A score of 6 or higher is acceptable for our Newark campus in IELTS. Acceptable scores for all schools except the College of Nursing are 550+ on the paper and pencil test or 79+ on the Internet-based test. For College of Nursing applicants, the acceptable scores are 600+ on the paper and pencil test or 100+ on the Internet-based test.
