Course summary
This program is comprised of dedicated faculty and staff and socially conscious students coming together from a wide range of disciplines. Our courses typically are small and are offered out of a variety of departments, including Criminal Justice, History, English, Communication, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Work, Art, and Nursing. In addition to an academic Minor and recently approved Major, Women's Studies sponsors a variety of campus events and programs throughout the year.

The courses are:Introduction to Women’s Studies, Women in Global Perspective, Feminist Thought and Practice, Senior Capstone, Women and Crime, Leadership Studies, Women Authors, Themes in Women’s Literature, Film Genres- Women in Film, Social Concerns and Women’s Health, Understanding Cultural Diversity, American Women Since World War II , Philosophies of Feminism, Psychology of Women, Gender and Society, Cultural Diversity, Speaking for Social Change, Gender and Communication, Women in Theater History, Internship, Issues in Women’s Movement .
Entry requirement for international students
Students who are under age 21 and have no previous college credit either ACT or SAT scores are required. The scores of TOEFL are also required. East Tennessee State University requires a total score of 61 or better for undergraduate study. They should have minimum grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scales or minimum ACT composite score of 19 (or equivalent SAT score).
