Course summary
M.A. in English requires 30 semester hours of course work without a thesis or, optionally, 24 hours plus a thesis. The M.S.E. requires 30 hours with no thesis. Both programs are designed to give students the opportunity to broaden their academic background and to develop expertise in specialized areas.
Program modules
Courses required of all general candidates: ENG 6133, Methods of World Literature Study; OR ENG 6153, Methods of British Literature Study; OR ENG 6173, Methods of American Literature Study, Twenty-seven hours of English electives (three hours may be chosen from a related discipline) to be selected in consultation with the faculty adviser.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should Obtaining a minimum 60% in English at X and XII in Certificate in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Students should have a Notarized or Original Copy of University Diploma or Provisional Graduation Certificate without any conditions stating that Bachelor’s Degree awarded. Official or Notarized Copy of all University Transcripts in English with a minimum GPA of 2.75 (some programs might require higher GPA) Proof of English Proficiency Completing ASU’s ESL Program Minimum grade of 90% or above. TOEFL – Paper-Based 550, TOEFL – Computer-Based 213, TOEFL – Internet-Based 79. IELTS – Academic 6.0.- Official Score from British Council. English as Official Language CIA World Fact Book. Students having Conditional Admission. High School Graduate (minimum 2 years of attendance) from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. MSE students are required to take either the GRE or the Miller Analogies Test. MA students are exempt from these exams.
